Ed Zipco
Superchief Gallery Owner
Edward Zipco worked for **VICE** as a photographer from 2001 to 2009, publishing street photography, fashion, editorial, and commercial work. He collaborated with VICE's in-house marketing and advertising agency, **VIRTUE**, to concept and run campaigns from 2007 to 2009.
A published author, Zipco wrote the first book of narrative nonfiction short stories on street art, *The Adventures of Darius & Downey*, published by Thames & Hudson and sold globally—most notably in the gift shop of The MoMA.
Over 15 years ago, Zipco and his co-founder, Bill Dunleavy, founded **Superchief** as an arts organization with a five-story cultural hub in Brooklyn, NY.
Since 2009, Superchief Gallery has opened gallery and large-scale art event spaces in NYC, LA, SF, Miami, and Tokyo.
On March 25, 2021, Zipco launched **Superchief Gallery NFT** in New York City, establishing it as the world’s first physical/IRL NFT gallery.
In February 2024, Zipco launched **Superchief Gallery San Francisco**—the world’s first **Ordinals Gallery**.
The grand opening of Superchief SF was hosted in partnership with **Bitcoin Magazine** to celebrate their first issue on Ordinals, and featured a live taping of the **HELL MONEY** podcast hosted by Casey Rodarmor (the creator of Ordinals).
Since opening:
* Superchief Gallery NFT has proudly worked with **Christie’s Auction House** to host the first-ever CryptoPunk auction, netting over \$17 million for a lot of nine highly prominent NFTs.
* Superchief partnered with industry-leading NFT marketplaces such as **OpenSea**, **MakersPlace**, and **Foundation** to curate and produce their first-ever IRL NFT art exhibitions back in 2021.
* Superchief also worked with **The United Nations** on their first NFT release and exhibition.
Following these milestones, Superchief co-founded the following major city NFT conferences:
**NFT LA, NFT ROME, NFT KOREA, NFT JAPAN**, and also stepped in as the **Official Art Director** of **NFTNYC** in 2025.
Edward Zipco/Superchief has most recently come on as the **Digital Art Director** of the multi-million dollar digital arts space at **Pier 59** in NYC, with programming beginning this fall.
